🏠 New SA Tenancy Law – Effective 1 July 2024

Under the Residential Tenancies (Miscellaneous) Amendment Act 2023, new South Australian regulations came into effect on 1 July 2024.
The updated law now requires all internal door locks in rental properties to be openable from the inside without a key.
This means that any keyed deadlock is considered non-compliant and must be replaced to meet the new tenancy standards.
Landlords and property managers who fail to comply may face fines or lease terminations for tenants affected by unsafe or non-compliant locks.
