What to check after moving into a new property

A new property can come with old key copies, worn cylinders, sticking doors, and locks that have not been checked in years. A short security check helps you decide what needs attention first.

Door lock replacement work after moving into a new property

Front doors, rear doors, garage access doors, sliding doors, and side gates should all be tested. If any door needs force to close or lock, the issue should be fixed before it becomes an urgent lockout.

If you cannot be confident about who has a copy, rekeying is usually worth considering. It gives you a clean key set without necessarily replacing every piece of hardware.

Daily access matters. If a lock is awkward, stiff, or hard for family or staff to use, it is more likely to be left unlocked or forced over time.
